We stayed in a ‘cosy’ room, which was a lovely en-suite room in a smaller side building. The hotel and room itself was clean and modern, with all the facilities you would need. The lady on reception was so lovely and made the check in process easy.
The hotel was located right in the middle of Windermere and Bo’ness on Windermere, a 10 minute walk from each which was perfect.
The breakfast included in the price had lots of options, great value for money and was quick in being made.

Loved nearly all parts of this stay. The staff, hot tub, bed, breakfast, location were all great. Coming back to a different towel design after room service each time was really fun. We had an extended stay as I had never been to Windemere and we hadn't been able to go on holiday for a few years at this point, and I felt like we had plenty to do (though we both enjoy walks) but with enough time to also properly relax in the spa room. Would definitely come back here again.

Pancakes for breakfast were burnt and inedible - had to be sent back - that was just one morning.
Evening taster meal was fabulous, lived up to expectations.

Windermere truly lives up to its reputation as a magical place. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, it feels like stepping into a storybook. The serene lake, rolling hills, and charming villages create an otherworldly atmosphere.
However, if I must point out a drawback, it would be the transportation situation. Getting to Windermere by train can be quite challenging. Delays, unexpected disruptions, and even outright train cancellations are not uncommon. My own journey was marred by a harrowing series of train mishaps before finally arriving. For travelers considering a trip here, I strongly advise paying extra attention to train schedules and potential disruptions.
Despite the transportation challenges, Windermere’s beauty is worth experiencing. Whether you’re strolling along the lakeshore or exploring the nearby countryside, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression

The nature is awesome.
The nature is awesome. Some quaint towns like Ambleside are amazing but one should plan foe short walks like Rydal caves to Grasmere. The views are stunning. Windermere is excellent place to stay in Lake District and ine can then plan day trips from there.
Getting around even by public transport is convenient by buses just that plan it properly considering which outbound and inbound bus you should take.
Restelli Italia , Bondori Burrito were excellent Italian and Mexican restaurants.
We loved Bowness on Windermere, Keswick and Ambleside.

Love Windermere & have travelled to the area countless times for holidays & mini breaks, great location for exploring all that the Lake District offers. Would recommend staying in Windermere because it’s a great base & has every amenity necessary for a good holiday. We ate with friends on this visit but there are plenty of cafes & restaurants close by to meet most peoples needs.

Windermere was beautiful.
Windermere was beautiful.
We didn't realise before coming that down by the lake is classed as Bowness, which is much busier and touristy. So staying in Windermere really suited us as we could get down to the Lake easily enough, but liked being in a quieter location with some lovely independent places to eat.

Windermere & the lake district is just stunning with even more incredible views around every corner. There is so so much to do from pottering around the gorgeous villages to swimming, kayaking, hiking & Alpaca walks! It's so easy to see where Beatrix Potter & Wordsworth got their inspiration.
The hotel is located right on the lake in a peaceful and tranquil location. We had a lake view room and had a good view of the lake with a shared terrace.
The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped.
The breakfast room had plenty of choice and the food tasted great. The breakfast team were very friendly.
There was off road parking and the property was well located for a base on Windermere. Bowness was only a couple of miles away.
The spa facilities and team were great too!!
If you need a place to hideaway, it’s a perfect choice. Richard and the team are very friendly and helpful. Very easily get to Windermere station and center, but it’s still very quiet because of its location. The room is just comfortable, everything is well maintained and very clean, not that big but really comfortable. Breakfast is brilliant, tasty and well combined, that’s not something you get from so called “continental breakfast “
The location is ideal. It’s about 5-minute walk from the Windermere railway station. It’s situated adjacent to the business area and easily accessible to almost everything, and meanwhile hidden in a quiet neighborhood and facing a park with an amazing view, and not to mention the tiny but beautiful garden leading to its doorstep. It’s a perfect combination of convenience and tranquility.
Absolutely gorgeous and comfortable property. The home and gardens were very special, we felt like we had stepped back in time. Views of lake Windermere were spectacular. Comfortable beds, living room was perfect for our family group. Plenty of space for us to relax. Location was also great- a little away from the busyness of the town. Hosts were great to desk with- great communication.
Good, modern hotel well situated 10 mins from Windermere and 20 from Bowness. Check in and ongoing keyless access worked well. Parking space was a available. The apartment was a bit tight on space but manageable. As other reviews have mentioned, the fridge is powered by a jet engine so it had to be switched off overnight. Bit pricey but within the range for good hotels in the area.
The location was amazing..only a few mins walk from Windermere train station and the restaurants/cafes etc. The Lamplighter rooms next door is really delicious for food. Breakfast provided at The Cottage was tasty and the staff were super helpful and friendly. Didn't feel like anyone was in the accommodation until breakfast time, so felt quite private.
Breakfast was great, staff super friendly. Room was very comfortable and clean. Hotel is around 10 min drive from Windermere (I wouldn't advise walking distance), parking is first come first serve basis. Check in was just picking your key up from the entrance and the little additions such a doggy poop bags and towels were such nice touches!!
The hosts are lovely - really accomodating and also give advice on walks and where to go. Breakfast was exceptional each day and highly recommend you have breakfast there.
The hotel itself is in a great location, a short walk to bowness and Windermere town centre. The rooms are clean, plenty of room and comfortable.
The hotel was in an ideal location mid way between Windermere and Bowness and within walking distance of both. The Honey suite was excellent with an indoor spa bath and outdoor jacuzzi. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back.
I liked the modern areas of the hotel, in particular the spa. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. It's a handy location if you have a car, situated between Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.
LoveLy hotel in great location and super room overlooking Lake Windermere. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had an outstanding dinner, by far and away the best during our trip, and breakfast was good.
Quiet location, near shops and restaurants. Excellent choice of food for breakfast. Good bus service near to the hotel. Bowness on Windermere is good place to visit for shops and walk around the lake.
The hotel was in a beautiful location overlooking Lake Windermere. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough. The room was very well equipped with an incredibly comfortable bed.
The location (near both the train station and the tourist info in Windermere) was great! I also enjoyed the ease of the self-check-in. Perfect for cheap solo travel.
Fantastic location and very good value for money even considering the hotel could do with a refit/uplift, charming original building and really enjoyed my stay.
Food was fantastic, so nice to have a dog friendly hotel with is still of a high standard room and restaurant food. Have been twice and would highly recommend
The hotel and grounds where lovely. The staff very helpful and pleasant. Rooms spacious and clean, good location for windermere and Bowness on windermere.
